This week started with the completion of the project I began the first week of classes. At the end of it all, I felt incredibly proud of all the work I had put into the assignment, and the overall finished product. This project allowed me a smooth transition to get back into the demanding schedule of my studio course, and acted as a refresher of all the new techniques and expectations I learned in the fall. After reviews, I look back and wish I had done certain things differently on my final works, but ultimately I am more proud of this assignment than I was of most of my work from last semester. Also, I made it on one of my professors Instagram page. #mommaimadeit

The second half of the week and over the weekend we participated in materials workshops hosted by the school. I was a part of a plaster casting group, and in this workshop we designed and cut small .75"x.75"x.2" blocks to create patterns or communicate design ideas. In my group, we wanted to focus on the idea of space making, tying in concepts we focused on last semester and expanding on them in different ways. I loved getting to spend time with a teacher from outside the program and working so closely with him, and also getting a chance to work in a group environment with my peers across all three disciplines. I think it was an incredibly productive workshop as we got more comfortable in the wood shop, and working with one another on design ideas, as we will be expected to once we finish school and enter the work force. It was a great and insightful weekend that allowed us to produce quality portfolio pieces in a matter of days.
